Eisenhower Fellowships has announced Bill Shaw, the Executive Director of the MGH Martinos Center for Biomedical Imaging, as one of 20 U.S. leaders who will participate in a global exchange of knowledge and ideas.

Now in its 63rd year, the organization brings together participants from government, business and civil society to collaborate with others from around the world to develop multi-disciplinary approaches to a broad range of problems.

As a fellow, Shaw will travel to China, where he will spend the month of June meeting with leaders from government agencies, academic research institutions, medical device and pharmaceutical companies, and research sponsors. Through these interactions, he will analyze differences in culture, finance, law and regulation that underlie biomedical innovation in the U.S. and China.

The goal: to find ways to increase interactions between U.S. academic innovators and the Chinese innovation system to drive investment in high-risk, early stage ideas that will lead to new healthcare products and services.

The Martinos Center is one of the world’s premier research centers devoted to development and application of advanced biomedical imaging technologies. It is home to roughly 120 faculty investigators and has $40+ million in research revenue.
