In 2023, the joint departments of Radiology Research at Massachusetts General Hospital and Brigham and Women’s Hospital seek to recognize and support the accomplishments of our outstanding research faculty. We are immensely appreciative of the quality and quantity of their work.  The annual Radiology Research Dinner celebrates our faculty researchers who achieve significant success and continue to be on the leading edge of innovation.

Research Collaborations –

This year, we wanted to foster some fun interactions between faculty on our two campuses, and between our clinical faculty and basic science faculty.   Our plan is to “partner” two faculty, one from the MGH and one from the BWH campus, with one member of the team from our basic science faculty and the other from our clinical faculty.  Since the hope is to encourage new collaborations and interactions, our expectation is that these investigators have not worked together previously, indeed might not even know one another beforehand – a real “blind date” of you will.

The goal of the pairings is for each group to make a short presentation of a new idea for collaborative research during the after dinner hour of our evening event – this will be in a “shark tank” like quick pitch format – easy and fun.  After all the presentations our broader audience will chose the project or projects they find most compelling, with appropriate prizes to be awarded. Judging will of course include scientific merit of the ideas, but special emphasis will be placed on projects that highlight the unique and complimentary talents of our two campuses.

Right now we are hoping that you would consider volunteering to be part of this “experiment”.  We will then quickly pair people from those expressing interest, to give folks time to get together beforehand to brainstorm some ideas and put their pitch together.  Our hope is that some creative ideas emerge that bring together the best of our combined communities, across our two campuses and many scientific and clinical disciplines which we all represent.
