Stroke & Cerebrovascular Disease research at the Martinos Center focuses on understanding and improving care for conditions that disrupt blood flow to the brain. Investigators use advanced MRI, CT, PET, and multimodal imaging to assess cerebral blood flow, vascular integrity, tissue viability, metabolism, and recovery processes in stroke, aneurysm, vascular malformations, and small vessel disease. By identifying imaging biomarkers that reveal injury mechanisms and predict recovery, this work supports faster diagnosis, more informed treatment decisions, and improved monitoring of rehabilitation and long-term outcomes.
